Very interesting information here…This is courtesy of www.sportsbusinessdaily.com…
This is the fourth annual SportsBusiness Daily/SportsBusiness Journal reader survey, and we have again asked to hear from you about what you like, and about what you don’t like, in the industry. Nearly 2,300 responses were gathered from readers eager to share their opinions on the people, properties, teams, brands and issues driving our industry.
WHAT YOU SAID: Not surprisingly, the economy was top of mind, with 33% of voters saying the economy poses the biggest threat to sports. Nearly 35% expect sports sponsorship spending will decrease slightly over the next five years; last year, just 8.5% felt that way. More than 37% think NASCAR, so dependent on the auto sector, will be the most adversely affected. Despite the negative forces at work, more than 76% of voters think the industry is on the right track, down slightly from the 79% mark registered in last year’s survey.
METHODOLOGY: Voting was conducted over two weeks starting September 29, with polling via SportsBusinessDaily.com and SportsBusinessJournal.com. Only the top vote-getters are listed, and the results have been rounded. Our thanks here to Turnkey Sports & Entertainment, who again this year provided the technical and surveying support to make this effort possible. Of course, we also thank you. Whether you’re a first-time voter or a fourth-time voter, these are your results, which you will see in THE DAILY over the next three days. Today, we present data on the general state of the industry, as well as on media, sponsorship and teams.
