Ouch.
The Pac-10 had a great weekend didn’t it.
Excepct for USC drilling Ohio State, it was pretty bad.Â
Oregon had to go to OT to steal a win at Purdue. Cal lost to a rebuilding Maryland. And then there were the four games against the Mountain West Conference. 0-4 against the MWC!?! Which was worse - ASU losing to UNLV in OT at Sun Devil Stadium or BYU blitzing UCLA 59-0 in Provo? For the record, I think it was ASU’s loss to the Runnin’ Rebs.Â
Not to be out done Arizona lost to New Mexico (for the second year in a row) and Stanford lost to TCU by two touchdowns.
How bad was it for the Washington schools this weekend? They managed to lose by a combined score of 100-31.  Washington was routed by Oklahoma 55-14 in Seattle.  Washington State got into the act and fell to Baylor, yes Baylor, 45-17.
In fact, the only squad that managed a ’W’ besides Oregon and USC was Oregon State. The Beaves dealt Hawaii a 45-7 loss. Â
As bad as the other teams looked this weekend, USC looked tremendous. The Trojans beat Ohio State 35-3 and it wasn’t even that close. I expected Southern Cal to win, but I thought the Buckeyes would keep it closer than they did.Â
The 2008 edition of the Pac-10 reminds me of growing up in Detroit when the Big 10 was referred to the Big Two and the Little Eight. Only in the Pac-10, there is only one team on top.
