
In the first hour of the show, the guys ran down all of the top stories of the week in the Top Ten at Ten Ten. Grose and Manuch discuss the big trade the Suns made with Suns Color Analyst EDDIE JOHNSON. Following the EJ interview, it was time to talk Coyotes Hockey with this weeks TOP SHELF REPORT.
In The Second hour we were joined by a special guest host Jim Marshall. Grose and Manuch caught up with former Coyotes goalie SEAN BURKE. Un-Aired on the show was the WEEKEND REWIND, but we have it here on RocAndManuch.com.
In the final hour of the show, the guys talked about the Bowl Bound Wildcats with Az Daily Star Cat Reporter RYAN FINLEY. Following the Wildcat talk the guys caught up with NFL Editor for the Sports Network, TONY MOSS.
Top Ten at Ten Ten
10: Tenth time is the charm for the Coyotes over the Wild
· Thanks to the two rapid-fire goals late in the second period and another with 4:45 elapsed in the third by recent call-up Joakim Lindstrom, the Coyotes beat the Wild for the first time in 10 games, sending Minnesota to a third consecutive loss for the first time since last February.
9: Knicks Mobley retires from Basketball due to Heart Condition
· New York Knicks guard Cuttino Mobley retired from the NBA on Thursday because of heart disease that he said has gotten worse. Mobley said doctors told him he faced significant risks if he kept playing. The 11-year veteran said by walking away now, he could live a long life.
8: Bradford wins O’Brien National Quarterback Award
· Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford captured the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Thursday. Bradford edged Texas’ Colt McCoy and Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell for the honor.
7. ManRam saddened by lack of huge deal, ponders Retirement.
· Manny Ramirez is growing extremely upset about the lack of suitors for his services, so much so that he has told friends he would contemplate retirement if a suitable offer doesn’t arrive soon
6. Suspended players allowed to play another week due to an upheld Injunction
· A federal judge extended his preliminary injunction against the NFL’s suspension of five players for violating the league’s anti-doping policy, a move their lawyer said will let them play the rest of the season.
5. U of A athletic program riding high, announces new Richard Jefferson Gymnasium
· This time, the words “Richard Jefferson Gymnasium” are actually on the walls. Not just in the head of the ever-joking former Arizona Wildcat basketball standout.
· During a formal ceremony Monday evening, Arizona dedicated its $20 million sports project, which includes a basketball/volleyball practice facility named after Jefferson and a diving/water polo pool to be named for the family of donor Mike Kasser.
4. Bronx bombers may refer to the Yankees pitching next season.
· Free agent right-hander A.J. Burnett has reached preliminary agreement on a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the New York Yankees.
· Burnett, who turns 32 in January, will join CC Sabathia at the top of a revamped starting rotation in New York. The Yankees agreed to terms on a seven-year, $161 million contract with Sabathia earlier this week.
3. T.O. Fuding with Romo and TE Witten
· According to multiple sources within the Dallas Cowboys, there is an emerging internal conflict involving three of the team’s highest-profile stars. As the preseason Super Bowl favorites struggle in the final month of the season to simply make the playoffs, wide receiver Terrell Owens has expressed resentment toward Tony Romo, apparently jealous of the quarterback’s relationship with tight end Jason Witten.
2. Suns acquire Bobcats Richardson for Bell and Diaw
· The Phoenix Suns dealt French forward Boris Diaw, shooting guard Raja Bell and point guard Sean Singletary to Charlotte Wednesday in exchange for shooting guard Jason Richardson.
1. Cardinals win the NFC West for the First time in 33 years
· The Cardinals have won the NFC West for the first time since being in Arizona, and the first time in 33 years. They will also host their first playoff game for the first time since 1947. The Cards have only made the Playoffs once since being in AZ and that was in 1998.
