The Coyotes are back at .500 after a big win against the Florida Panthers. The Panthers are not a strong team and do not handle adversity well, as soon as the Coyotes took the lead they didn’t turn back. Florida only registered one goal, and it was knocked past Bryzgalov by a Coyote defensive on a broken play.
In the second period, a period that has not be particularly kind to the Yotes, the Coyotes broke through with tallies by Mueller and Boedker. Bryz proved his dominance and stepped up with another all-star effort by shutting down the Cats.
In the third period the Desert Dogs continued the scoring. Jokinen put a beautiful tip past Thomas Vokoun that was a result of an errant pass from one of the players Olli was traded for in Keith Ballard. Boedker would add the final tally of the game with a beautiful move and a little bit of luck at the 17:56 mark. Boedker would stay on the ice for the remained of the game to try and get the hat trick. Boedker had a chance to record his first ever hat trick on a empty net goal but unselfishly gave the puck up to Mueller. “We tried to get him (the third goal),” Wayne Gretzky said, smiling. “I don’t know too many guys who’d pass up a hat trick with an empty net. . . . I know I wouldn’t have. We tried hard to get him his hat trick, but it didn’t work out. You’ve got to shoot it to get it.” When asked about his act of charity Boedker stated “Yeah, I probably should have, but the (defender) was coming over so fast, and Pete was open, so I gave it to him,” he said. “I’m pretty sure I should have shot it, but you can always look back and say that.”
Points of Note include the fact that the Coyotes spent only two minuets in the penalty box the entire game. Bryzgalov has not allowed more that two goals in his last four games, and he WILL get the start tomorrow night against the Sharks.
