What a roller coaster ride!  Kurt Warner was named starter on Saturday afternoon after months of speculation that Matt Leinart was the guy.  At least that’s what still-rookie coach Ken Whisenhunt had said all a long.

Quote of the year so far:  “The person who best gives us a chance to win next Sunday at San Francisco is Kurt Warner,” said Whisenhunt after wrestling with the decision Friday night and into Saturday morning.

Leinart, not surprisingly, was upset.

So what does this tell the fans and Leinart about his future as an AZ Cardinal?

The stats proved it for Warner.  Warner completed 12-of-17 passes in the preseason for 142 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions and a passing rating of 95.7.  Leinart, playing a bunch of more snaps, completed 28-of-45 passes for 354 yards, two touchdowns, three interceptions and a passing rating of 73.8.

Again, let the discussion continue - Is Matt Leinart the future of the Cardinals, or better yet, is Leinart now considered a bust?
