Top 10 Moments at Yankee Stadium: #10-#6

#10 2001 World Series Game #4 Derek Jeter Walk Off Home Run in the bot of the 10th.

-The home run got Derek Jeter the nickname Mr. November.  In the aftermath of 9/11 New Yorkers were brought to life by Yankee baseball.  Would have been higher on the list, but the Yanks didn’t finish the job.  Luis Gonzalez dropped this moment six to seven spots.

#9 Chris Chambliss Walk off Home Run, Game 6 of the 1976 ALCS.

-There are a couple moments on this list that I was not alive for.  This is one of them.  I’ve seen the highlight millions of times.  My main question is how did people in the 70s get on the field so easily?

#8 Doc Gooden No Hitter May 14th 1996.

-A great moment that everyone remembers.  Something that most people don’t know about this game is that a lot of the people there that day went for free.  Opening day 1996 featured a snow filled House That Ruth Built, they played the game, and George Steinbrenner decided to give free tickets to fans that attended the game.  The loyal fans had a choice of three games and Doc Gooden’s no hitter was one of them.

#7 The Jeffrey Maier Play.

-Derek Jeter hit a ball down the right field line that would have landed in Baltimore Orioles’ OF Tony Tarasco’s glove.  Instead a young kid by the name of Jeffrey Maier became a part of New York Yankees history when he reached over and caught the ball.  Umpire Rich Garcia made a mistake and called it a round tripper.  This occurred in game 1 of the ALCS and the Orioles never recovered.  While the Bronx Bombers continued on to win their first World Series since 1978

#6 David Wells perfect game May 17th 1998.

-A memorable day for the pinstripes.  David Wells remembers pitching, but not the night before.  He went out and got hammered before his start on May 17th.  The fans of that game were very lucky and it was not because they saw perfection.  If you were in the seats that day you got a beanie baby and one from David Wells’s perfect game could go for a lot of money on EBAY.

Tune in to Roc and Manuch tommorow from 3-6pm to hear moments #5-#1
