Top 10 Moments at Yankee Stadium #5-#1
The finishing touches to the greatest moments at Yankee Stadium.
#5 The final out of the 1996 World Series.
Wade Boggs was the one who got to ride around the Stadium on a horse after the Yanks defeated the Braves, but Charlie Hayes was the one to make the final out at 3rd. The New York Yankees win the first of 3 World Series in 4 years. This was the first time in my lifetime that I saw the Bronx Bombers get a championship.
#4 Final out of Don Larsen’s Perfect game, Game 5 1956 World Series.
Only perfect game in World Series History against the Brooklyn Dodgers. Larsen was a mediocre pitcher, 70-80 career record. He will be remembered forever with this historic moment.
#3 Aaron Boone Walk Off HR bottom 11th Game 7 ALCS 2003
This is my favorite moment on the list. It got pushed down to #3 because the pinstripes lost in the World Series to the Florida Marlins. Aaron Boone sucked all season, he was flat out awful. He redemmed himself with this upper deck bomb of Tim Wakefield, who was the MVP of the ALCS up to that point.
#2 1977 World Series Game 6: Reggie Jackson’s 3rd Home Run
Before Derek Jeter became Mr. November, Reggie Jackson was Mr. October. Jackson cracked three home runs to clinch another World Series victory over the now Los Angeles Dodgers.
#1 Lou Gehrig- Luckiest Man Alive Speech
Lou Gehrig’s speech is right up there with Jim Valvano’s ESPY speech. Yankees stadium was dead silent taking in every word the Yankee hero spoke. Gehrig was an all time great and he was able to captivate all of the Bronx with a single line.
