During halftime of last night’s Cincinnati-Pittsburgh game, the NFL Network aired a portion of Deion Sanders‘ interview with Terrell Owens.
The wideout’s comments were provocative enough. “I don’t like it,” said T.O. of his fading role in the Dallas offense. “I don’t think it’s difficult at all to get me featured.”
But even more curious was Owens’ choice of attire: a green shirt with an oversized eagle on the front.
You can draw your own conclusions. But it’s difficult to avoid the subtext when Owens is firing subtle jabs at his quarterback and the coaches: “When I get my hands on the ball, things happen. I can’t throw it and catch it. I can only do one thing. It’s not that I can’t play, it’s the system of which I’m in.”
Do you read between the lines when an athlete wears a shirt or hat representing another team? Could T.O.’s choice have possibly been a coincidence?
