HOUR 1
The All Star game that would never end, thank god Corey Hart can’t throw or the game would still be going on. The NFL was back in the news and it wasn’t positive. No matter what Roger Goodell tries to do, the league continues to get negative publicity. The NFL has hired gang experts to see if players are celebrating touchdowns with gang signs. Manuch thinks the experts will be able to decipher and see if players are flashing symbols. He also believes there should be a no tolerance policy; any player who throws up a gang sign should be suspended for a full year. Roc doesn’t understand how you can know what is going into a player’s head. There is always the possibility that a player has an inside joke with a family member that could be similar to a gang symbol.
Rick Horrow from Horrow Sports Ventures joined R&M to discuss the business side of sports. They talked about the NFL television situation and if fans will still be able to afford to go to games with the struggling economy.
FSN Az’ Brad Steinke stopped in for his weekly segment. They talked All Star Game and previewed the Diamondbacks 2nd half.
HOUR 2
Has there ever been a better 6 months in the sporting world? Roc and Manuch don’t think so. This first half of 2008 has been highlighted by the greatest Super Bowl ever; the best Wimbledon Final of all time, Big Brown’s run at the Triple Crown, Mario Chalmers amazing shot in the NCAA men’s basketball championship games, and Tiger Woods’ amazing victory at the US Open championship. It has been an unbelievable first 6 months.
Police Blotter time. “Rampage”Jackson decided it was a good idea to drive along a highway and ram other cars. He also attempted to pull an OJ Simpson and get away from the police. At least he is living up to his nickname. Another blow to Roger Clemens, Kirk Radomski according to the New York Daily News has sent receipts saying he sent HGH to Clemens’ house. I wonder if Roger will ever give up?
HOUR 3
Mercury Morris thinks he is 50 Cent. He has put out a rap talking about the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins and is trying to bleed every last cent out of the team’s accomplishment.
Today’s home town report featured the city of Minneapolis. Dark Star of WCCO 830 checked in to talk about his city. The guys went over the surprising Minnesota Twins, Brett Favre to the Vikings, Kevin McHale being the worst GM in the NBA, the Minnesota Wild, and the University of Minnesota football team who did not win a Big 10 game last season.
