Wednesday 11-12 Edition of Roc and Manuch
Your Drive Home Sports Alternative
Roc and Manuch opened the show discussing the Arizona Diamondbacks. There is a possibility that the Snakes could feature two automatic Hall of Fame pitchers. The guys discussed if they should go after Trevor Hoffman and resign Randy Johnson.
The Sports Professor Rick Horrow checked in for the business side of sports segment. One of the main topics of conversation was Nascar since the race was here this past weekend.
Brad Steinke from FSN Arizona caught up with R&M and previewed tonight’s Suns-Rockets game and got into the Diamondbacks topics that are listed above.
Craig Ackerman the play-by-play radio announcer for the Houston Rockets joined the show for the In the Paint segment. Craig announced that Tracy McGrady will be a game time decision and he is not 100%. Ackerman also broke down the play of the Rockets early in the season. The first unit likes to play a half court game running the offense through Yao Ming; the second unit gets up and down the court led by second year point guard Aaron Brooks.
College Basketball writer Mike DeCourcy from sportingnews.com previewed the 2008-09 season. Mike thinks Tom Crean will have Indiana competing for a National Championship within 5 years, James Harden will lead ASU farther than they have been in years, and Chase Budinger needs to become a leader if the Arizona Wildcats are going to have a successful season.
HOUR 3
Roc and Manuch gave the Top 5 at 5.
-
- Joe Madden AL Manager of the Year…Lou Pinella NL Manager of the Year
- A gambling ring being busted in the Tri-State Area
- The New Jersey Nets helping the unemployed
- A boxing ring was stolen…that’s right a full boxing ring
- NFL playoff tickets will go down 10% in price
Roc and Manuch had the honor of speaking with NBA Hall of Famer “The Iceman” George Gervin. “The Iceman” has no problem wearing the high socks even if it’s on the gold course. George likes the idea of instant replay and isn’t surprised that rookies OJ Mayo and Michael Beasley are having success. “The Iceman” told the guys not to sleep on the San Antonio Spurs; smart veteran basketball players are better than young ones who aren’t prepared.
