Wednesday 8/27 Edition of Roc and Manuch

“You’re Drive Home Sports Alternative”

Hour 1

The Cardinals named Kurt Warner the starter for the final pre season game. Is this a sign of things to come for the regular season?

College Football Season starts on Thursday. Roc and Manuch preview a couple of the big games including Alabama-Clemson, Oregon State at Stanford, USC vs. Virginia, and Utah at Michigan. They also hit on the two local teams; ASU taking on NAU and Arizona battling Idaho, two real tough ones.

Hour 2

Appalachian State takes on LSU in the first ever battle of the champions from DI and DII (I know it’s not called that anymore, but I don’t care). App State athletic director Charlie Cobb joined the guys. He discussed the famous upset of the Michigan Wolverines in the Big House and the Mountaineers upcoming season.

Rick Horrow checked in to talk about the Business Side of Sports. Rick closed out the Olympics, went over the impact of sports on politics, and the economic value of low level college programs traveling to the powerhouses.

Hour 3

The Arizona Diamondbacks got swept by the San Diego Padres. They pulled off what was thought to be impossible with the trio of Dan Haren, Brandon Webb, and Randy Johnson on the mound. The Dbacks continue to luck out because LA is even worse than they are; the Dodgers have lost five in a row, including two to the lowly Nationals. Brad Steinke called in from San Diego to give us the latest.

Roc and Manuch want to open up a sperm bank. No not really, but there is a place in LA where couples can get sperm from athletes to try and make their child a star. I can’t wait till kids are popping out with blond hair when both the parents have brown hair and they look nothing like either parent. What the heck is America coming to?
